The Leading Role in Life
Question: My result isn’t good, I think the teacher doesn’t like me, it makes me dislike going to school.

Answer:

I believe that you must have not felt comfortable in the heart and that makes you dislike going to school. President Ikeda had once said “One would deal with various problems, hardships, mind boggling and things that you do not like. When we deal with problems, there are only two ways. One is to put the blame to the surrounding, the people around you. You might get sympathy from others, but in the end of the day, it’s our loss. Everything we say would be an excuse. The other way is to independently find our way to solve problem regardless of the environment we deal with, it’s an undefeatable spirit in living our life. Which do you want to choose? It’s all about what you want.

Everyone has its trait, in the world everyone is exceptional, the potential they are to unleash is different as well. Everyone has their own niche, please do not underestimate yourself just because your result isn’t good enough. As long as everything is done through your best effort, it’s more than enough. Most importantly, we have to realize the things that we have interest in and work hard into unleashing our potential. President Ikeda had once said that “I always believe that all of you who have mandate on yourself would not give in to failure because you all live in the spirit of victory. I hope that everyone moves toward their dream courageously! Please consult with your parents politely.”

How do you confront your teacher when you dislike him or her because of your result? This is something we should learn. Perhaps you could attempt to confront your teacher modestly by asking for advices on the things that you do not understand. After doing so, you would realize that the teacher whom you previously hated was actually a good teacher. This is the same when it comes to some classmates whom you do not like getting a along with. But when we decide to change our perspective of someone by realizing more good sides from them, pray for them so that they would gradually be swayed by your vibe of good deeds. Hence it would take down the wall that hampers you from getting along with them.

President Ikeda had once said “Regardless of what we’re doing, should we possess any intent to blame others, we would not be able to unleash the path of hope” We would first need to vow that “It’s all about ourselves, we ourselves should be strong!” If we resort to doing nothing but just blaming the teachers, parents and classmates, that would be a shameful way of living.

Dislike going to school is a common thing, at times we all feel pressured sitting for exam and get entangled into interpersonal problems. But when we graduated and started to work, we would then miss going to school. Truthfully, it’s all about our own will and living habit that determine what we would be in future. This is not something others can decide for you nor is it something others could be liable of, it’s all about yourself. The process of learning has never been easy for everyone, but we should be courageous and not resorting to evading problems because in the end of the day, we are the ones who would eventually have to deal with the problems. Just like what President Ikeda once said, “Life, is a repetitive winding road, the crucial point is to attain victory in the final passage of life, the key point is to be persevered. One with great perseverance is someone with absolute happiness. Regardless of how tough is the environment, one who is able to hold tight to himself would then be able to realize the “treasure” that others couldn’t. In spite of hardship, someone who can keep going and eventually succeed would have the most fruitful harvest for themselves. On the contrary, one who would give in to adversity at times of hardship would let the environment to lead his life. He himself is superseded by the environment as the lead actor instead. That would not be meaningful then. It’s all about ourselves that determine the lead actor in our life.

When we stumble upon to problems, we should seek help from the counseling teachers, elder brothers and sisters in the Gakkai by confiding our problems to them. By mutually discussing about problems, you could reach to a solution. Moreover, you could also confide it to Gohonzon while performing your Daimoku. These would allow you to develop your courage at times of hardship.
