A mouse on the drawing board

Long ago, there was a lonely artist who lived in an abandoned garage. On every night, he could hear a mouse squeaking. Not only that, that little mouse would often climb to his drawing board and dance on it. As time passed by, the artist had got used to having the mouse as his companion.

Through numerous attempts, the artist finally found himself a job. He was introduced to Hollywood for the production of a cartoon about animals. From the beginning, his working progress was very slow as he tried several times on improving his artwork.

Finally, on a silent night when he’d lost all his inspiration, he suddenly recalls his memory about the mouse that danced on his board. He gave his best effort to illustrate the mouse’s movement and had even made it into a cartoon.

This artist is a well-known American cartoonist Walt Disney. Through his passion and great effort, he successfully created the legendary cartoon character that we grew up with – Mickey Mouse.

Quickly! Look around you and see if there is any funny animal moving around. When we’re down, they’re the ones who made our day brighter. When we’re in a mess, they could be the ones who give us a helping hand. If you really do have such animals living with you, it must be very joyful. Please cherish them.

Walt Disney could create a funny character like Mickey Mouse not because God had given him a cute mouse. It was his sensitive observation and creativity that brought him to his achievement. Being in a dreadful environment, he had never given up on his life. He had continuously searched for inspiration around him to create his own ‘treasure’. We must remember that, behind the highest peak of ‘glory’, the lies the greatest ‘exertion’.

Not every one of us could have a chance of having animals like Mr Disney did. But not to be worried. Because we’ve got ourselves a very noble person to follow. He’s the mentor of our life – Ikeda Sensei. Ikeda Sensei had never given up on us as he continuously sends us his guidance in hope of encouraging us. Currently, Sensei couldn’t make it to visit other countries. However, he had never stopped encouraging every single one of us through his guidance and writings. Thus, we must read his books and learn from our Sensei’s challenging spirit.

It’s beautiful to have our Sensei in our memories. Please cherish these valuable memories with our mentor and strive forward towards your dreams! For Sensei has always been expecting on our growth and advancement!
