Adversity is a blessing
When would you be careful of your health?
Perhaps it’s when a doctor’s telling you that your body’s condition is getting worse.
When would you spend more time for your children who’ve just entered the stage of adolescence?
Maybe it’s when they’ve done something wrong and been punished for that.
When would you start to care and cherish your other half?
Perhaps it’s when they’ve asked to break up.
When would you really understand the needs of your customers?
Maybe it’s when your business is starting to get worse.
When would you realize the importance and true value of life?
Perhaps it’s when you attend one of your friends or relatives’ funeral.
Postscript:
It’s often that we sighed “Oh gosh, why must I experience such pain and suffer this way?”
Perhaps we should change a point of view. Being in adversity may bring us consequences and lost that could not be amended.
However, not everyone could understand the great and noble healing power that it possesses.
What is adversity?
“It may seem like a defeat, but it’s a pair of invisible hands of wisdom. It forces people to change their direction in life, to a better direction.”
When we could think this way, adversity would become a chance for growth and advancement. Every incident possesses a positive meaning behind it. When we have such faith, everything will begin to develop in a positive direction.
When Thomas Edison was striving real hard to invent light bulbs, he failed for about 9000 times. When his friends asked him to give up, this was what he said “This is not failure, but 9000 steps nearer to victory!” While his friends take it as a multiple failure, he took it as enlightenment for him to find other ways to achieve his aim.
Every experience is an opportunity to learn. As the people always say “A lesson is repeated until learned.” Most of the people might complain ‘Why am I the victim?’, the answer could be that we’re not enlightened from the lesson yet. There could be many opportunities for us to learn, they repeat until the lesson is finally learned.
As our Sensei had encouraged us from the speech “The world is still filled with tonnes of problems. However, no matter if it’s a matter of world peace or to settle a financial problem, the key lies on a faith that breaks through ‘the impossible’!
Since the problems are caused by people, then we must have the ways to solve it.
How should we trigger the infinite power of potential for the sake of people’s happiness? The SGI’s philosophy is a ‘philosophy of hope’, a ‘philosophy of courage’ aimed to achieve that. Plus, it is a ‘philosophy of benevolence’ that could save the public.
Let’s grow together in adversity, let’s learn to treasure.
