No matter how you may live your life, a day is a day, a lifetime is a lifetime. One who always expresses hatred, boredom, worthlessness and full of resentment will only be at loss and worthless. No matter where we go, we must create fun and open up the path for growth and joy. The most important thing is that we must always be in control of our own hearts and mind and advance towards that direction.
- Mr. Ikeda
At times, when we have nothing to do during the holidays, one may think that having fun and entertainment is the most enjoyable thing to do. Merely seeking entertainment and pleasures won’t bring about enthusiasm towards anything. There are some people who are very diligent in their studies misunderstood that studying is everything and would think that it’s a bore when their parents keeps on encouraging them to attend meetings. Actually, if we carry such attitude we will never be able to learn new things
because we are already rejecting everything at the start.
Perhaps you may have some shortcomings, say for example shyness, fear of expressing yourself or passiveness, etc. You can still try to join in with the rest because it isn’t necessary for us to voice our opinions whilst learning to listen is also part of an important lesson. On the contrary, if we continuously say that we’re bored, there will only be resentment and complaint in whatever we do. In the end, not only we will not be able to gain any knowledge, in turn, we will also affect the people around us, so what good is there in doing it? To live a truly worthy life, we must put in all our efforts in whatever we do and the victories we attain in our daily endeavours will determine the victory of our latter life.
In school, besides being a student, you may also hold other posts such as becoming a prefect, librarian or a class monitor. If we are committed in our responsibilities besides learning new knowledge our teacher taught us, we will also learn about the significance of the sense of responsibility. But if we are careless in our roles, in the end, not only we’d be burdened by our roles, the memories we have of our school will be bland.
Mr. Ikeda once said: ‘Strive all out, in the work you are doing now! Do your best, to accomplish the tasks lying before you today! The mission you carry, fulfill it by all means! All your efforts will move towards the direction of victory.’ Only by putting in effort wherever we are, we can be truly happy and create value which is ours. Say for example, when we attend Junior Division camp, if we only wish to go home feeling that everything that is going on is boring, then at the end of the two days one night camp, you will not gain any new knowledge. On the contrary, if you earnestly join in, where although there may be times when you are uncertain, you would still earnestly contribute yourself for your group and in the end, the outcome will be different. Through all your contributions and efforts, you will be able understand and feel the greatness of our mentor as well as the commitment and thoughtfulness of every Person in Charge, then and there, you will be even more grateful towards everyone’s contributions. The camp will become your fondest memory instead of a miserable one.
The heart is the key to happiness. We must carry a resolute belief and determination in all our endeavours and we definitely will succeed. Hence, we mustn’t give up easily no matter how happy or unwilling we are, we should always do our best and ultimately, victory is ours! May us all be in control of our heart and be the master of our heart!
