With ideals there is youthfulness, with ideals there’s life. A person with no ideals is lonely indeed. On the contrary, someone who pursues their own ideals in their life will forever remain youthful even though they’re old.
- Mr. Ikeda
Everyone have a dream of their own. Industrious people may desire one day off, some people may wish to develop their specialty as their own ambition, say for example: a person who has a passion in swimming wishes to be a national swimmer, a person who loves languages aspires to be a linguist, a person who studies history may aspire to be an archaeologist…all these are examples of people’s ideals but how many people out there actually realized their ideals?
First of all,
one must have a firm resolve to continuously strive for ones purpose and mission and never give up. Whatever we have learnt will become treasures which no one can strip away. Knowledge enriches our inner self, enabling us to see things in a broader perspective by looking at everything from a global point of view. Besides that, knowledge also enabled us to prudently see and move towards the ideal path we are taking, say for example: Since primary school years, we are learning how to plan for our future, studying abroad, choosing the course we wish to pursue and finally on how to achieve our dream. This incessant striving spirit to advance and realize ones dream will one day reap abundant fruition.
Youth is when a person strives towards a goal with passion and a determined fighting spirit. A young individual who never gives up their ideal hope and holds on to such spirit is living a youthful life. Once we have an ideal, we will have a sense of direction in all our tasks. When we study, we will aim to score good grades and diligently strive to achieve our goals. Perhaps we may encounter problems which are likened to encountering a storm when we are out. However, our dream is like an umbrella sheltering us in times of despair and forlorn and motivating us to continue to press on.
On the contrary, if we study only in accordance of certain programs, we will become captives of spoon feeding education where we not only are unable to absorb new things, our life also becomes meaningless. A futile life results in people losing the enthusiasm and inquisition in life and once the passion disappears, we cannot bring out the liveliness in us. Is this the kind of life you want to live? At times, we may experience situations where people criticize us or pour cold water upon our burning passion but the most important point here is our adamant never giving up spirit. We mustn’t be defeated by these devilish functions but instead encourage ourselves instead. This way, regardless of how high the mountain may be, we will be able surmount them. It all down comes to our efforts.
Do you know who Madame Currie is?
Marie Curie is born on 1967 in Poland Warsaw. She is the youngest among 5 children in her family. Her father is a secondary teacher who taught math and physics with very limited income and her mother is also a secondary teacher. Marie had an unfortunate childhood where she was looked after by her eldest sister because her mother contracted a serious infectious disease. Afterwards, before reaching the age of 10 her mother followed by her eldest sister passed away. Her life had been very difficult. Growing up in such conditions not only nurtured Marie’s ability to live independently but also tempered a
very strong disposition in her childhood.
Marie had been very diligent and assiduous in her studies since childhood and she have an intense interest and special hobby in studying. She never lets go of any opportunities to study and displays her tenacious spirit of learning everywhere she goes. Since her primary school years, she always scores the highest in all subjects. At 15, she obtained gold medal for outstanding achiever award upon graduation from secondary school. Previously her father assiduously studied physics in St. Petersburg University. Her father’s strong hunger for knowledge and intense dedication in the works of scientific professionalism has deeply influenced young Marie. Since young she had been very fascinated with her father’s laboratory equipments and apparatus. As she grows up, she read many books on natural science which fills her with fantasy and she eagerly desired to explore the world of science. But at that time,
her family’s circumstance was unfavorable so she couldn’t attend university. At age 19, she became a long term home tutor and at the same time self studied various subjects. Eventually, at age 24, she finally attended University of Paris studying in the faculty of science. With a strong seeking spirit for knowledge, she listened intently to every lesson. The difficulties of the studies caused her health to deteriorate but nevertheless her academic performance has always been one of the best which not only brings about the admiration among her peers but also astonishment from her professors. Two years after admission into the university, she confidently participated in the undergraduate physics examination where among 30 examinees, she got the first place. The following year, she obtained another outstanding achievement which is a second place BA in Mathematics.
At the beginning of 1984, Marie accepted and become part of the French country’s committee to promote and propose various steel, iron and magnetic scientific researches. Upon completion of this scientific research, she became acquainted with a physic and chemistry teacher named Pierre Curie, who was an accomplished young scientist. Sharing the same aspiration to benefit humanity with the cause of science unified them. After their marriage, people addressed her as Madame Curie. In 1896, Madame Curie completed and got the first place in university graduate’s examination. The following year, she completed various kind of research on steel and iron magnets. However, still not satisfied with her results she decided to pursue doctorate and determined her own research direction and stood on a fresh new starting line. In world science’s history, Marie Curie’s name is immortal.
She is a great female scientist whom by her own diligence and talent has made outstanding contribution in the physics and chemistry domain and also became the one and only renowned scientist to win two Nobel prizes of two different domains.
In pursuing ideals, there are no limits to the age, regardless of whether you are young or old, as long as you have the ideals and strive for it, you will triumph in the end. Mr. Ikeda said: We must seek hardships, and since it is difficult, we must work hard for the sake of great ideals!
We mustn’t limit ourselves in a small box; we should bear in mind and diligently strive towards the great ideals for the sake of our friends, our society and humanity!
