Confronting Difficulties
If everything is always smooth sailing, we can never experience true happiness. Even though there are precipitous terrains before us; those one who remains calm and fearless overcoming all difficulties will profoundly experience the value of life and advance progressively. There will be joy, satisfaction and not a slightest hint of regret.

Escaping difficulties and failure are good friends, if we choose shortcuts all the time to shun hardships, we are destined to fail. We must be courageous to face up to any challenges which come before us. Ships never sail sideways or else it would be overturned by big waves. Hence, ships always sails towards big waves and advance courageously because it is the only way it could navigate across the ruffled seas.
Our life will never be always smooth sailing. We will inevitably come across times when situations gets out of our control like family problems, learning difficulties, friendship problems as well as other dilemmas. Nevertheless, we mustn’t flinch from the difficulties but instead muster our courage to face it. When we come across problems which we couldn’t solve, we must chant to Gohonzon that we will definitely solve the problem. As long as we are strong, our grief and sadness can be turned into nutrients for our soul and our miseries can mould us into a person of greater depth.
Just like the newborn baby sea turtles, even though their mother is not at their side, they would still courageously wade their way towards the embrace of the great sea. If they stumble across big stones or get overturned, they will still carry on moving forward fearlessly. Such courage is worth learning.
No matter how extreme the crisis we may find ourselves in, we must carry unshakable ‘hope’ in our hearts until the final moment because the hope in our hearts is immeasurable! The only way to attain our goal is to advance forward one step at a time with unswerving determination. During those times, we may not be able to see the immediate outcome but as long as we work hard continuously reaching up to a certain height, we will be engulfed with immense joy. Similar to scaling a mountain, what we will see before us will be a vast and boundless world.
Don’t avoid difficulties; we must triumph over our problems. It is up to us to create our own wealth. Creating one which we could proudly declare: ‘It’s truly amazing!’; ‘I’ve attained victory!’ This sort of life values! Such person is truly outstanding and is a victor!
