Mother
Is it not true that everyone exists in this world because of our mothers? I believe no one is like the monkey god who burst out from the stone. So, what kind of personality does your mother possess? Is she a cheerful person, a hardworking person, a person who gives concurrent consideration to both work and family, a woman who is hard to please or a very good mother? Actually, no matter what kind of personality your mother possesses, regardless if she is a very quiet person or a person who always expresses her love, our mother will eternally love us.

Ikeda sensei once said: ‘the most honourable and noblest are mothers when compared to renowned people, politicians. The first and foremost people to applaud are mothers. Though no one may applaud you, I will give you my utmost praise and thanks from the bottom of my heart.’ Why did he say so? I’m sure it must be truthful!

Ikeda sensei is the weakest in health among all his brothers when he was young. His mother worried about him the most compared to all his brothers. After the war, Ikeda sensei studied in a night school and because of that he always comes home late. But no matter how late he reaches home, his mother will always wait for him to come home. At times, she would reheat noodles for him to eat. Even a simple ‘You’ve done a hard day work!’ is enough to deeply touch sensei’s heart.

Perhaps we may not get to enjoy a hot bowl of noodles, but we have a fixed three meals everyday; perhaps there is no one who would wait for your return every day, but there never was any complaint when they send you to school. There may be days when your conversation with your mother doesn’t exceed more than ten sentences but when you think about it carefully, most of your mother’s actions radiate the message of motherly affection. Our mother looks after us when we are sick but what happens when our mother is sick? Who cares for her? Despite how hard she worked, despite how many years of her life were erased, she still strives to live for the sake of her children – how great and profound motherly love is!

The sun never exasperates and never stops advancing on its path, illuminating every corner and nurturing everything. A mother is just like the sun in the family. Always cheerful like the sun, always strong like the sun and always healthy like the sun. A mother who never gives in to defeat can guide and lead her children towards a victorious life. Our mother is the sun in our family and also the sun of the world. No matter how dark a situation may be, as long as there we have our mother, the radiant smiles and laughter will never fade.

A mother’s smile and actions are like the brilliant sun radiating a dark room and also like the fragrant flowers embracing and infusing their fragrance into their children’s hearts. No matter how harsh the winds blow or how hard the rain pours, how bad their exam results are, being offended by friends or is encountering an obstacle, when the child reaches home, they will once again be healed of their distress and feel their mother’s warmhearted encouragement.

Our mother gave birth to us and nurtured us. Our mother works all day unrelentingly. Although there are times when they keep nagging us but the most important thing is to protect our mother who assiduously and wholeheartedly chants for the sake of her children and her family.

Therefore, we must become a person who knows how to say thank you and repay our debt of gratitude. Let us start from today onwards and learn to say thank you to our mother and show appreciation to our mother’s altruistic contribution with our actions!
