Mentor and Disciple
A disciple’s desire to meet his/her mentor will definitely be acknowledged by his/her mentor. No barriers can separate the mentor and disciple relationship. If there is, it will be the disciple’s heart.
——Ikeda Sensei

I’m sure all of you want to meet our mentor, have you ever asked yourself why? Have you ever thought of why you wish to meet our mentor? Or is it because it is everyone’s wish and that he is our mentor that is why out of the blue you also want to meet our mentor?
Actually, everyone wishes to meet sensei, but does everyone have the chance? The answer is no. Our mentor appreciates the efforts of his disciples; he understands his disciples’ aspiration that is why he always chants for our happiness. He also does his utmost in writing books, offering guidance and setting up numerous future division groups, all his actions constitutes to genuinely foster us; his disciples.

If we do not have the oneness of mentor and disciple spirit, when we meet our mentor, we will only feel that our mentor is truly great. Besides that, there is no other sentiment.

A lot of people said that they feel that their distance with our mentor is very distant because they are both in different countries, but in reality it is the opposite. It is similar to Mr. Toda, although he had passed away but he still lives eternally within sensei Ikeda’s heart. It is because sensei Ikeda has a mentor in his heart, that is why he remembers everything his mentor taught him and everything he do, he did it for his mentor, for the sake of our organization, for peace, for the happiness of all humanity and for his fellow disciples.

He even often mentions his mentor’s words and he also puts his mentor’s picture in his own wallet to constantly remind himself of his mentors ideals and guidance. As for us, our mentor is still with us, how can you say he is distant from us? In reality, our mentor’s distance from us is very near; he forever lives within our hearts and forever guides us towards the correct path in life. For that reason, the best way to repay our gratitude is to do our best possible to live a life of no regrets. And to always carry the spirit of ‘mentor in my heart’ in all our undertakings.
