Regardless of what we may face, we must strive till the end and courageously advance to create our own history. It is pointless to hate or envy others. We have the world’s greatest Gohonzon which enables us to freely obtain immeasurable wealth. ——Mr. Ikeda
I believe that all of you have heard of the stories of great people right? All of them went through a lot of sufferings and problems and achieve exceptional accomplishments; one great example is Thomas Edison. Edison’s childhood is the similar to us which is a childhood filled with curiosity. And because he doesn’t understand how hens are able to hatch chicks, he took eggs from his house and sat on it hoping that he could hatch a cute chick too. When his mother caught him doing so, he was forced to give up his idea. But because he was driven by curiosity, he then understood that because hen’s body temperature rises up to 38 degree Celsius, thus eggs can be hatched.
Edison’s curiosity had caused him confronting various problems as he grew up in his later years more than other people. But if he has no such desire to seek knowledge and undaunted by problems, we people of the 21st century are probably still living in darkness after dusk. He made it possible for us to enjoy the convenience of light. In addition to that, every one of us is creating our own history. From the first time going up on stage to accept our achievement, from our first time to be appointed by our classmates as class monitor, from the first time shopping for food unaccompanied and so on. All these are the daily struggles for our growth. No matter what we face, we must possess the spirit similar to what we had learnt in sensei’s guidance, that is, to possess a spirit to overcome our problems and sufferings, to persevere and secure our very own distinctive history.
There is no need to admire or envy others. I’d rather be envied than envy others. Whenever we envy or resent others, we only see people’s virtue causing ourselves to feel inferior and any task we do we would only get half result with twice the hard work and as a result, we can’t carry out our work well. Whenever we give our all in our daily life to every detail in life and at every crucial moment we are able to do our best and naturally we could influence people who will follow the example of our efforts and take us as role model. By reflecting and questioning ourselves daily, we will be able us to see our shortcomings and further strive harder and advance progressively step by step. Hence we can do better in all our undertakings.
How can we achieve victory in our lives? It is by believing in ourselves and believing in Gohonzon. By starting everyday with our daily prayers determines the victory or the failure of the whole day. As long as we give all out to do our tasks, we won’t have any regret in our daily lives and wish for a brilliant future. The most valuable things in life are not gold, silver, pearls or diamonds but a very strong spirit. Let us resolutely face our future and advance, and be the most obedient, the most courageous, not defeated by any problem and the happiest child of all!
