Materials:
- Plastic balls (the ones similar to those in the children's playground in McDonald)
- Hula hoop (the usual ones)
Procedure:
1. Before we start, PICs would have to split the Junior Divisions into groups. The numbers of JDs in a group or the number of groups can be manipulated by the PICs. Then, put a pile of plastic balls at the center of the ground surrounded by a hula hoop.
2. Then, every group should be sitting around the group of plastic balls at the center so that every group has approximately the same distance from the plastic balls. The JDs should be told to imagine themselves representing different classes in a competition of the school's internal sport's day. When the PICs give a signal, the groups of JDs would have to snatch the plastic balls at the center. The group that snatches most of the balls in a limited time (30 seconds - 1 minute should be enough) wins.
3. The groups of JDs are still representing different classes, however in the second match, they are to represent their school for this match, competing with the other schools. When the JDs were given a signal, they are to collected the balls within a limited time too. At this point, the JDs would be so enjoyed snatching the balls. But when this round ends, the PICs will be explaining the purpose of the game.
Message behind the game:
1. In the first match, the JDs were representing different classes competing with one another. Just like the school's internal sport's day, having representatives for each sport houses. Each representative would try their best in earning points for their own sport houses. At the end, the sport house with the highest points wins.
2. But in the second match, they do not only represent their own sport houses, but the school. If there's only one representative that has done a good job, it is never enough. When the different houses are being under such condition, they have became one. At this point, victory is not about just a group, but everyone's aim as a team! Under such condition, shouldn't we be sharing the plastic balls equally among each other and achieve victory as one? At the same time, we must also discuss how does the spirit of itai doshin and team work decide victory and defeat. When we have a common aim, we must challenge and learn together until we achieve victory!
3. Just like our Soka Gakkai society, having the Golden Age Group, Men's Division, Women's Division, Young Men's Division, Young Women's Division, and Junior Division. Although we often have our activity separately, we are still as one, having the same aim, and we should always challenge together, and achieve our victory as one! It is never enough if there's only one of the division that achieved victory. Just as the Buddhism teaches, what is important, is an absolute happiness and victory!
*The main point of this game is not about winning or losing, but to implement the spirit of itai doshin through this activity. The message we bring, keep on challenging with this spirit, and achieving victory together, as one!
