If we never pull out our sword, we can never obtain victory; if we never sharpen our sword, it tends to become rusty. Those who never sharpen their sword, and those we never pull out their sword, are often afraid of something. The sword is our heart, and our character. Sharpening the sword is a part of learning, friendship, and training.
----Ikeda Sensei
Everyone has a sword of justice, a sword that could defeat the evil, and protect the good. As long as we possess the sword, we will obtain victory, and will never fall.
This miracle sword exists in our hearts. The sword represents our heart, and our determination. In the Buddhism, we call this strong faith in the mystic law as a state of Buddhahood.
There's a famous boxer named Jack Dempsey. When he was 8, his mother brought him on a train. However, his mother had insufficient money for two train tickets. The staff on the train told her that they would have to leave if they do not have two tickets. The mother then begged for mercy and told the staff that she was sick. However, the staff yelled "This is the rule". Since then, Jack Dempsey chose to become a boxer as him ambition just because he wanted to protect her mother.
Luckily, there was a kind person who helped them out for the tickets. But ever since the incident, Jack Dempsey swore "When I grow up, I'll never let my mother to be insulted like this anymore!" After a lot of intensive training, he finally became "the strongest man on earth". And this, is his "sword". This "sword" has been fully sharpened.
This story tells us that we will obtain our victory if we have a strong faith. The "sword" becomes sharper and sharper as we sharpen it with the challenges in our lives. To make our heart strong, we would have to train ourselves, to learn, and to build up a bridge of friendship among each other.
A sword that hurts is an evil sword; a sword that saves is a sword of justice. Those who possess the sword of justice will also be protected. In contrast, those who possess the evil sword will be chained under the hell. Let us all sharpen our "sword of justice"! And embrace the great determination!
