Untie The Human Knots
Untie the Human Knot

There’s no certain limitation on the quantity of members in this game. But greater quantity doubles the fun!

1. First, get the kids close up together. Ask them to hold each others hand randomly. They could hold their hands with a random member in that certain group. Maybe you could hold the opposite member with your left hand and the other member with your right hand. “Random” is the trick.
2. When the members are done holding hands, ask them to slowly enlarge the group. This could be a little hard as the hands are being the “knots” binding everyone together now. All you have to do, is to ask the members to untie the “knots”, not by letting go your hands! But to figure out the way to untie the knots and enlarging the circle without breaking it! It might sound impossible, but it really works! Some of the members might jump over each other, some might crawl under the “knots”. Of course, PICs could also lead them for a little.
3. After the knots have been untied, all you could see is a simple circle. A circle of members holding their hands like the way we do the fire camp dance.

At the beginning, it may seem very difficult and almost impossible. Some of the members might have thought of giving up without giving it a try from the beginning. Whereas some would take the lead and call up every member’s spirit to accomplish the task. Along the game, you might get to see different spirits and thinking from the kids. Some of them might want to let go of their hands; and some would just stand there and wait for some command; some would keep on thinking the way to untie the knots.

The difficulty of the game depends on the quantity of members. Thus, it could easily be manipulated by PICs to adjust the game’s suitability according to their kids. Through the game, we could implement the spirit of determination and endurance. But above of all, we must let them know the importance of the “stand alone” spirit. It’s very crucial that someone would take the lead. When the group of members are lacking of this spirit, the task would never be accomplished. Also, we could provide them an opportunity to learn from each other’s spirit, to challenge themselves, and to share the happiness of victory at the end.

Have fun! =]

*PS: PICs could join in too. It’s really fun!
