Trust Walk
1. Find a good or wide location, such as a field. Then, team up the members into 2 per group. Now set a starting point and an ending point for your walk.
2. Get one of the members in every group to be blindfolded.
3. The idea is to let the member of a team to give verbal clues and instructions to the blindfolded teammate. They have to finish the walk from the beginning till the end.
4. Of course, you’d have to put several obstacles along the walk. You could even make the walk to be a curvy one instead of a straight and easy one. But remember to put nothing dangerous. You could get use of some plastic bottles, or some plastic chairs.
5. The blindfolded teammate will have to follow the clues and instructions from his/her teammate (e.g. to the left, five steps ahead…). If he/she hit or crashed some of the obstacles, they would have to start all over again.
6. The fastest group to finish the walk wins.
Being the blindfolded one will surely be plunged into an insecure atmosphere. You won’t know what’s ahead of you. This is the time for you to build trust among your teammates. Seeing nothing but darkness, you could only follow the voice that’s leading you. Be ready to see some funny movements though. Some of the members would be unsure about some certain instructions or movement and might just stand there doing nothing. Trust is the essential topic for this game. Now is the time we cultivate the spirit of “Itai Doshin”, one of the great spirit of our organization.
*Remember to watch out for everyone’s safety. And be prepared for unexpected incidents (e.g. bring first aid box…). But above of all, have fun! : )
