1. This standard 4 student used two different materials on this drawing, which is colour pencils and crayons.
2. The blue sea was done with the colour pencils whereas the clouds were done with crayons. The brushwork seems so loosed on the clouds compared to the sea. This boy has produced two different effects with two different materials.
3. He loved blue colours. But the drawing gave us a message that he wished to control his uncomfortable feelings. It feels like he just wants to flow with the sea water aimlessly. He wanted to face his problems bravely, but it seemed to be out of his ability. He said that he wants to sleep in the ocean, and keep his heart frozen temporarily. He would “defrost” his heart once he feels better or found a way to face his problems.
4. Actually, his house was destructed by an earthquake back then. He wished that he could help when he saw his family running up and down to fix the house. He felt himself helpless and all he could do was to go to school. Then his teacher told him that he is helping the family by doing his own part. In addition, his parents would feel proud and glad if they knew that he was an understanding child.
5. After a few days, his mother found him not paying much attention in his class and wasn’t concentrating well in his homework. After she found out about her child’s thought, she felt so pleased to have such an understanding kid. Then, he began to feel better. He felt so happy that his new room will be finished soon. He even welcomed the author to pay him a visit.
