1. This is drawn by a girl who was only 11 years old.
2. To those kids aged 11 and 12, the pink colour actually represents the childishness inside them. It signifies joyfulness, curiosity, change, hardship, growth, and the development of emotional function.
3. This little girl was framing herself in a house, which indicates that she was trapped in some kind of situation. In addition, there are also many spiral drawings found on the trees. According to the psychologist, if the spiral is turning in a clockwise direction, it means that things are coming into the person’s consciousness. On the other hand, things are going into a subconscious state when the spiral is turning in the anti-clockwise direction. The spirals in the drawing are found to be turning anti-clockwise.
4. She used pink as the colour of the leaves and some branches on trees to signify growth. It seems to possess a feeling of being under a situation where she’s in an unfamiliar physiological and psychological state. The picture of being framed in a house shows emotional pressure. Her body seemed to have grown more mature but childishness still exists in her heart.
5. Usually, girls would involuntarily choose the objects that are pink in colour when it’s during their period. When the author asked that if she was having her period, the little girl surprisingly asked “How do you know?”. Then she complained: “When the period comes, my stomach would ache! I feel so uncomfortable! I can’t go for sports, I can’t drink anything cold, and I don’t even feel well. I can’t concentrate on my homework too. Why do girls have to carry this burden?” After hearing this, the author and her teacher took the opportunity to explain about the physiological and psychological difference in boys and girls. Other than that, they’ve congratulated her of becoming an adult and encouraged her to be prepared to face life courageously.
