My thoughts of Junior Division
If it wasn’t for Junior Division, I couldn’t even grow happily in this organization, nor as simple as to be myself. Junior Division is a division that helps in the mental and physical growth during childhood. It casted a great impact on my character, interests, and helped constructed my foundation.
I could still recall that the Junior Division PICs were diligently nurturing every single kid. They were all very patient, caring, and loving. They always had a big wide smile on their face and guided us sincerely. I have the deepest impression on one of the PICs which is Aunt Juna. I could still remember that I was always the “larger” kid compared to the others of the same age. Thus, my mom used to call me “chubby girl”. She often tells people that I am very fat. Those who knew my mother and me are all used to this adjective word. I didn’t mind people calling me that. But Aunt Juna was the first “heroin” to give a comment on this statement. Haha! She told my mother not to call me that or it might cause an effect on my self-esteem. Even kids need to be respected. I learnt to communicate and care about other people from them. It indirectly helped me to be a person that loves to communicate. Other than that, I’ve been a person who always chant and overcome problems through the idea and spirit of the organization.
In addition, I’ve even discovered many of my talents in the Junior Division. I had many of my first time experience in here, such as public speaking, dancing, and other cultural performances. I have the deepest impression on the Junior Division Public Speaking Competition. I was shivering when I first did it. Never even get to finish my lines since I got so nervous. But that’s only the beginning. After that I became outstanding. Haha. At the end it became my hobby to speak. It even became a guiding compass to me at this moment of choosing my academic subjects. Back in 1997, when I was still in standard 3, I joined the Cultural Festival in Sarawak. The Junior Division members were divided into 2 groups which are standard 1 to 3 a group, and standard 4 to 6 a group. Surprisingly, I was grouped in the standard 4 to 6. Maybe it was because of my size that they thought I was older. At first I thought that I couldn’t catch up with the steps of the dance. But it was out of my expectation. I did it well! Even my mother was surprised by my performance. I found out that being fat isn’t a boundary of dancing well. Besides, I love dancing since then!
Other than that, Junior Division helped train up my foundation. I was encouraged to lead other members in the activities, assuring every member is being active in every activity. Besides being a member, we’ve been a leader too. Thus, we tend to grow up to have the ability to lead well.
I think that Junior Division is the best place that can nurture capable and talented people. This is because everyone was still small and it’s easy to implant the good values in them. Furthermore, I would like to thank and praise the PICs who sincerely nurture the Junior Division. They are the ones who have planted the seed of goodness in our lives, guiding us to a road of happiness.
