JD Graduation Camp
Unwittingly, I have been a Junior Division PIC for over 4 years. I really learned a lot from this. All the joys and sorrows are the stories I keep in my heart. The incident that touches me most happened in 2007. It was back when the 4th Junior Division graduation camp started. Back then I was assigned to be the group coordinator. I was getting familiarized with it since I was also assigned to be a group coordinator in the previous JD graduation camp.

I got so relieved that the children were being separated into groups from the beginning, or else it would be like the previous one where PIC went shouting around. After the opening ceremony and cultural performance, we sang the Junior Division theme song, 'The Rising Sun' together. Then I tried to take this opportunity to integrate into them. After that, it was time for group discussion where we have introduce ourselves, and design our group flag, slogan and name.

Some of the children seemed to be more active, while some seemed to be just quiet. Nevertheless, I was confident that I a close friend for them. The following activity was treasure hunt. This year, I no longer worried too much as I did in the previous one. I just hoped that they could enjoy the activity to the fullest. I could still remember that I kept thinking for some interesting topics and things about Junior Division to talk with them at night. The thing that made me felt so happy was that they were willing to tell me the problems they're facing. Fortunately, I was prepared before the event. So I tried to encourage them with President Ikeda's guidance.

In this camp of 2 days and a night, my greatest feeling was: Nurturing children is not about asking them to accomplish what we told them to. On the other hand, we should listen to their voices from deep within their hearts. When facing a mischievous kid, most of us would think that he/she is incurable. But to me, it depends on our sincerity. If we have the hearts of sincerity, this 2 days activities could have been a conversion point for the children. If we chose to give up on them or to just face them superficially, we are nothing more than giving up their future.
