5. The Mysterious Happy Carrots

1. Now let’s see how a drawing drawn by kids that grown up in a happy family be. This is named “The Mysterious Happy Carrots” drawn by a boy of standard 4.

2. The carrot on the right with blush cheeks will be his grandfather who likes to drink. He would have a drink or two during dinner and he would sing some country songs. He would go to bed after dinner and he never get a shower before sleeping, just like American’s lifestyle. Thus, grandfather came from America.

3. The one beside grandmother will be grandmother. She’s a Japanese. Whenever grandfather ask her to pour some drink, she would reply: “Hai! Hai!” Just like when Japanese said “yes”. The one beside grandmother is me. I like to see grandfather eating, drinking and singing. I admire grandmother’s kindness. Especially when she smiles and said “Hai!”.

4. The one beside me is great uncle. He worked as a farmer with grandfather when he was young. He’s a clever man, and he always makes toys for me, like kites, toy gun, toy car, and other wooden dolls. He would paint the toys with colours and made it so beautiful! Great aunt would take them to the market and sell them to tourists. She doesn’t have any kids, and she treats me as her own, and loves me. The toys unsold will be my toys then. I love her, and she’s just sitting beside great uncle.

5. Whereas mom’s beside great aunt. All the delicious foods on the table are cooked by her. The food she made is even better than the ones made by restaurant chefs. Mom likes to chew on arecanut palms while cooking. I worried that the arecanut palm juice will drop into the food. Mom said: “Silly boy, I raised you up and look at your size now.”

6. Whenever dad sees mom joking with me he would say that she still has the heart of innocence. He will help out mom and prepare the dinner. Dinner time is a happiest time of all for our family. Some of them will sing along and dance along when grandfather starts to sing. Dad said: “Our family is just like the carrots behind our garden, living happily together. Greeting the sun happily, greeting the moon happily, finishing the drinks, and finishing the plates, and finishing the money.” Mom said: “As long as our child is clever!”

7. A happy family will bring up a happy child. As adults we must first be role models ourselves, watching our actions. Kids are the ones we grow up according to the “mould” that makes or teach them.
