2. Tears of the flower

1. This was drawn by a little girl named Nong Nong. Because of her mother’s occupation, she had to move to a new school. Because there wasn’t any friend to play with her, thus she said that she always misses her old friends. She said that the flowers are all pretty and happy in the garden, but they won’t play with one particular flower in the garden, and so, that flower cried. And the tears had even flown up the sky.

2. After her mother knew about this, she would go to the school a little earlier everyday. This way she could accompany her daughter a little longer. Other than that, she would bring her daughter to walk around the new environment, and let her have a chance to get to know it.

3. Then with the teacher’s help, Nong Nong started to have good friends, and she would talk about things that happened in the kindergarten to her mother once she got home. By looking at this drawing we could feel her happiness and innocence. Some of the kids are poor of expressing themselves with words, and so they would choose to express in action. It is often a negative way, a way adults don’t usually accept. Thus, wasn’t easy to understand. All that matter is whether we are willing to listen to their problems or not.

4. President Ikeda said: “There’s variation within children, and there’s also different hobbies. There might even be obvious changes within today and tomorrow. A kid is changing every second. If we never open up our radar, we might not catch their intention nor understand them. Not only language and words, but the voice from their heart too. Thus we must have a close relationship with them to hear their opinion.

5. They could only get the meaning of life and grow up robustly through love, and through encouragement. It’s the time of toddler that determines one’s life. The best fertilizers to grow a lush land of internal spirit are understanding and love.
